Picked up a sixer from this Baltimore brewer. Could have sworn I already reviewed this one. Head doesn't last but the color is pretty. Plenty of sweet malt in the nose, but the initial sip is well balanced most of the way through, powered by caramel and noble hops and a hint of yeast. The bread note shines brightest in the finish. Overall, pretty clean and easy to drink.

Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Copper red and amber light in color, with excellent glass like clarity. Some sense of fine rising carbonation, but only a little to be seen. Still a giant rocky and khaki colored forming head, deep and thick with light swiss cheese bubbles and a tall fistful length. Big crowned collar with lots of lacing, great looking brew.

Aroma is light toasty notes, with a faint caramel and nicely clean. Less of a bready action, slight minerals, an minimal hop notes. Excellent malt profile though that's quite balanced though.

Palate manages to deliver the goods. Fairly rich bodied, kind of hinting a thick almost syrup quality but has a rich caramel note in the mid palate. The thickness takes away from some of the clean and crisp flavor, but manages a real rich texture. Slight touches of actually more woody than herbal hop, which is a nice contrast to the caramel and toffee bar notes.

Quite a nice tasting marzen but hangs a little syrupy thick, which is definitely a plus in some peoples books.

Appearance:
Dark amber with a beige crown that stands a respectable fingerbreadth deep. Curtained lacing that breaks into slippery webwork.

Bouquet:
Malts mulched with light brown sugar, reluctantly giving way to a warming, spiced bread aroma.

Feel:
Solidly medium body with a frilly backdrop of mid-strength carbonation.

Taste:
Lightly toasted bran and modest malts, lanced by pinpricks of raw cane sugar.

12 ounce can poured into a dimpled mug.
Canned 8/18/21

L: Crystal clear, deep copper, one finger of khaki rocky foam, good retention but leaves very little lace, sparse tiny rising bubbles
S: Opens malty and strong but quickly fades to almost no aroma, toasty with a hint of spice, fleeting whiffs of spiced bread after it warms
T: Starts malty and smooth like it is going to be sweet but quickly dries, bread/toast, light caramel and clean restrained bitterness, spicy hop flavors opens as it warms, mildly sweet
F: Medium body and carbonation, soft, slight creaminess, succinct crisp bite at finish
O: Maybe a little sweet for style but easy drinking and enjoyable.

Clear, reddish amber appearance with an average size white head and decent lacing. Earthy toasted malt aroma stands pretty much alone without much help from the hops. The hops do, however, add some bite and balance to the taste; floral at first, then a bit more spicy. Malts still dominate. A touch of toffee in the aftertaste. Smooth, crisp, dry, clean mouthfeel indicative of the style. Appreciate this one when compared to several other O'fests consumed over the last few days.

From the 12 oz can, it pours a nice clear dark amber color with a long lasting off-white head that leaves lacing. Scent is light malt with some caramel. Taste follows nose, with malty sweetness and caramel.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a bronze color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is very mild, light malts. Taste is of bready malts, a touch of sweetness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall it's decent, but there are much better examples of the style.

Pours a striking burnt copper color with over a finger of head. The nose has some bread and a definite hint of caramel. The flavor has plenty of caramel malt but lacks the nuttiness I like in this style. There is also an odd off note on the finish that is sweet but in the wrong way. The body is what I expect for the style.

Beautiful clear copper, nice white head with good retention and lace.
Smells like toasted bread crust.
Very bready, slightly sweet, but crisp.
Medium body, medium carbonation
Very drinkable. Could definitely have a few on a wet autumn day
