No expectations as a pint can is emptied into a clear pint glass. The liquid is reddish brown and almost the entire contents fit, as there's very little head. Not overly aromatic, a little malt and a woodsy smell does come forth. The taste is sweet and malty, just what the style standard is. The "aged in bourbon barrels" augmentation is present, but subdued and makes this quite the smooth delivery of a 9% ABV, with a little added flavor. A very nice rendition of a Scottish Ale, plus. Mercy, me.

Murky garnet, thin white head, not much in the way of retention, spotty lace.
Smells like an Islay Scotch, but with a sweet toffeeish background, a little fruity as well.
Peaty smoke up front, then toffee malt and yeasty fruit, smoke on the finish
Sweeter than I prefer in most beer, but surprisingly dry for the style. Low carb
Pretty dang good for what it is. Not really in my wheelhouse, or Oliver's, but I really enjoyed it!
