Oliver Brewing Co. "Bmore Sour"
12 fl. oz. can without production codes or freshness dating
$3.79 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: This is brewed with blackberry and raspberry, and there's no mention of "natural flavors"! It's poured a hazy reddish-amber colored body beneath a short head of white foam that drops quickly but still maintains a collar. The aroma is fruity and suggests acidity. Moving on to the taste, the acidity is fairy strong (pH 3.9) but it's also quite clean. I'm not finding any of the flavors that I usually get from beers brewed with Philly Sour or some other yeast specifically designed for souring, nor the mineral character of a lactic fermentation from something like yogurt. I wonder if this simply has food grade lactic acid added to it. That would certainly allow for better consistency. Apart from that the fruit is somewhat acidic, and both the blackberry and raspberry are clear. It's light-medium in body and zesty in the mouth due to both the acidity and carbonation - keep in mind that CO2 in itself is acidic. All in all it's a little bit too acidic for my tastes but I certainly know people who like it biting. The fruit is nice though, and overall I find it pleasant and refreshing.

Huge pink tinted head that bubbled away quickly and left little to no lacing. Berry-like aroma with a bit of citrus. Tart and fruity flavor came through with little forewarning from the nose. Suitably carbonated, medium bodied mouthfeel. A decent choice if you like the style.

Definitely very red for a beer, almost purple. Thin head that doesn't last. The nose is sweet and tart with mixed berry and underlying grain. The flavor features a surprisingly strong tartness that blunts the sweetness of the berries. Texture is medium but a little watery in the finish. Very fruit juice adjacent, but I do like that tart sour note that kind of regulates and gets everything back in line, at least for a while.

On tap, at Pratt St Ale House.
Clear, deep purplish red, with slight white head.
Smell is of both fruit, more blackberry apparent.
Taste is similar to aroma, with both fruit flavors apparent. Reminds me of a defunct local winery's blackberry mead, and cranberry/raspberry wine , as if they were blended. Mild sourness. Nice, as that didn't overwhelm the flavors.
Feel is medium-light, smooth , and lightly juicy.
Overall, very nice. Easy-drinking, and well-balanced. I'd have it again anytime.

Berry-red pour, average amount of head disappears almost immediately. Can't really taste much "beer" flavor at all. A hint of berries can be detected under a wave of pungent tartness, like you're chewing a (non-chewable) vitamin C pill instead of just swallowing it. Very light mouthfeel. Lingering sour aftertaste that stays on the back of the tongue. A disappointment at the price point, but maybe it's an acquired taste.
