20 oz can. I love Belgian-style ipa's so lets see....(10/21/18)

I chose to pour out this can into a classic Chimay Goblet due to the Belgian influence and hefty 9%"abv. Looks hazy, gold with some subtle orange and yellow highlights. The white pillowy foam relaxes to a scattered covering and solid ring. The yeast continues to be very active, like a good Belgian style should. A bubbly, active center makes this a very jazzy looker.

The Citra hop sure packs a wollop to the nose! Bright fruits, citrus sweet and lemmony tang in the aroma. Peppery and sweet oranges, a bit of alcohol heat tingle and soft, light malt with an herbal kick plus some impressive smooth creamy effects which adds further depth to the overall aromatics. The yeast is a bit subtle, but seems to adds a sour/peppery, fruity and wild-earthy thing that just puts it over the top. A very complex and interesting nose.

Mouthfeel before flavor....the texture is brilliant. Fresh, crisp, turning silky smooth and very full. The body is light at first but when the smoothness settles in it feels very full, but not heavy. Just pillowy. I would even call it juicy with the mega citra hops.

Now to the taste: The Citra hop flavor is very deep here, dense citrus and tropical fruits flow all around, big juicy hop flavors! The yeast adds a funky, but earthy effect, slightly sour-maltiness comes from the golden, almost pilsner-like malt complexity, which, by the way...adds some serious charecter in the most subtle way. It's overloaded with hops and yeast tones that are turned up to 11.
The malt becomes very creamy -smooth and fluffy. Herbal yeastiness and dry-leafy hop notes comeba bit later as the 9% abv hits you but is very well disguised.

Overall, this is like a mega citra hopped golden quad. Or the smoothest belgian golden ever! At any rate, wow. When you put ipa level hops in a righteous Belgian golden style you have a true treasure.

Poured from a can, dated 6/7/18, so it may not be as fresh as it should be.

Smell and taste are certainly some good citra hops, tropical and citrus fruits, but also a sweet candied sugar malt character and some yeast esters.
Full and smooth body, slick and with a slight bitter finish. Noticeable alcohol and yeast character, but in a good way like a Belgian tripel.

Overall, glad I picked it up! I like the Belgian IPA style but there aren't so many out there, would be worth trying this again if I find a fresh one.

16 oz can into IPA glass. Dated 6/28/18
Nice hazy golden orange milkshake look holds a nice sweet tropical nose of papaya, lemon. Taste follows nose but not big explosion of juice just a mellow build. Ends with little grapefruit bite. Feel is medium and smooth. Nice job again by GG. Would buy again.

Dated 6/7/18 on the bottom of the can, 3 weeks since brewing.

Pours a very hazy deep orange in the glass with a finger of pillowy white head. Nose starts off with a bit of saison funkiness, giving way to lemon zest, lime, gooseberry, fresh cut grass, light pepper, ruby grapefruit rind and a slight yeastiness. Taste is like a slap in the face of flavor, almost too much. Bringing in a strong bubblegum, heavy lactose-y lemon-lime, honeydew melon; all mixed with most of the notes of the nose. Medium body that coats your palette. High sweetness, low bitterness and medium-low drying. I don't taste alcohol specifically, but the intensity tells me it's at least 9% ABV. I'm a bit at a loss of words on this one, it's all over the place. Saison notes, milkshake NEIPA notes, slight pilsner malt notes. Sweetness is a bit clawing and sticks to your palette. If you're looking to blow your palette out of orbit, this one is for you.

Pours opaque light gold with a fuzzy looking little bit of head on it. Smells like what you'd expect a big IPA to smell like: citrus rind, lemon zest, grapefruit. Not picking up the "Belgian" component in the nose. The taste is more bitter than I expected, the aftertaste in particular is almost harsh. The high ABV is noticeable as well on the back end. I admire the effort but won't be purchasing this one again.

12 oz can says "formerly known as Imperial Citra Saison", so an update of that beer that is also listed. Hazy golden yellow with a small white head. Smell is clean tropical fruit hops. Taste is juicy tropical hops (grapefruit and mango?) with a slightly bitter aftertaste and some peppery spice. Feel is very juicy, tingly carbonation boosts the peppery spice. Overall, this is a fine example of a tropical hops beer with a little extra peppery spice and belgian notes. The 9% ABV is surprisingly not apparent in the taste or feel.

Mango puree, over ripe peach and melon. Sweet simple malt profile. Medium bodied. Creamy feel. Some pineapple. Virtually no bitterness. Slick finish. Pretty good. Like drinking a mango smoothie.
