This was poured into an English pint glass.
The appearance was a beautiful super dark brown color extremely close to black in my glass. The pour itself was closer to just dark brown. Mellow foamy tan head gently dissipated to leave a flimsy sliding lace.
The aroma seemed to have an absolutely stunning blend of sweet milk chocolate to dark chocolate - bittersweet roasty and toasty allowing a mild beany acrid earthiness.
The flavor leaned towards a superb blend of earthy to milk chocolate sweetness. That dark chocolate and toasty to vanilla effect rolls in for an absolutely amazing balance. Quick earthy dry aftertaste with some toast and coffee bean character.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fine sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. A dry smooth feel seems to play with coffee bean sharpness. Good finish of earthy dry coffee bean activity with a small play of milk chocolate sweetness.
Overall, I'd say a very nicely done milk/sweet stout that seems to balance incredibly better than a lot of its cohorts.
