Deep black hue with a very minimal red tint, it is close to opaque in appearance. It was served with a finger of brunette head that quickly faded to a loose, small-bubbled cap, which in turn slid into a ring around the glass. It did lace very well as I drank it. The nose is pleasant with controlled roasted malt aromas of coffee and burnt sugary-wood; the bouquet is a touch hollow, there is a trace of naked hops at the back. Inviting nevertheless. The palate is plenty tasty, roasted coffee beans upfront with a hint of dry chocolate and espresso in the middle, a kiss of piney hops near the finish. The aftertaste is long and rewarding with coffee and espresso. Pleasantly dry. This is a very balanced porter, similar in taste to the offering from Odell. Im not sure what the Strong in the name indicates, if was to imply strength in alcohol, if so the alcohol was near absent in the taste. If it was in regards to extra flavor, well, it was lost on me. It is medium in body with moderate but appropriate carbonation, this is a very drinkable and likeable porter but I found it too easy to drink, I was sailing through my pint glass far too quickly! A stronger malt backbone would be nice as it is a touch thin. The mouthfeel is smooth, couple that with the dry espresso finish and a very damn good beer was brewed. Id drink it all day long. Enjoyable. Worth trying.
