Some like it hot. Some not. Chili beers are almost a little scary to try, but Thunderhead did a good job. The color was a bright yellow with very small head and no lacing to speak of.
The smell was rather light with just faint pilsner-esk quality to it. No spice or fruitiness really, and not yeast esters at all.
The taste was a surprise. The first initial taste brings a rather graininess and some limited fruitiness at the top. Not much on hops and the finish had a very light spice kick, sort of like white pepper. At first I thought there wasnt much of a chili style to it at all. As you started to drink more and more, the spicy kick started becoming more and more noticeable. It doesnt take long before it notice it is a chili beer. The chili flavor stuck around once you got half way through the pint.
One thing to note is that the chili taste never really became obnoxious. There was always a grainy taste that was noticeable at first but as the chili taste became alive, was still present in the background.
Overall the body was light but a good chili beer, even for those who are not a big fan of chili beers.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
