Poured from a 2019 bottle purchased at the brewery into a stemmed goblet. Pours a reddish caramel color. Minimal off white head. Nose has toffee and rye. On the thinner side. More toffee and rye on the sip, some peat. Quite sweet and warming. More heat than I would have expected for the ABV.

Bought this bomber at the downtown brewery. This had a light caramel color and a bit lighter than most BA Scotch Ales I've had. The smell was nice, toffee, tobacco, and rye. The taste was a little less hot than what I had imagined but you could still tell the alcohol was there. The fell was a bit thin but it is only 8.8%. I would have this again.

Thought the rye barrel came through very warm on the nose, but not much else to go with besides toffee. The taste had some more depth with rye, tobacco, raisin, toffee, birchwood, plum, and malt teaming up together. Feel was prototypically good for style while a little warmer and thinner. Good beer, would have again, especially in fall
