Look: Burnt orange, leaning amber, in color with a formidable eggshell head that forms and settles to a pillow, leaving great lacing behind
Aroma: Pine needles, limes, floral notes, navel orange, tangerines, caramel, crushed fir needles, and freshly baked bread
Taste: Opens up with a kiss of lime juice and zest before a sharp, resinous combo of pine and fir hits and takes control. Citrus and a bouquet of floral notes land next with oranges and rose petals at the forefront and they battle as bready and caramel malt keep it all in balance through the close, which includes a nice bite
Mouthfeel: Full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and lightly dry on the finish
Overall: I dig it. I like what these folks make and spotted this newer packaged one recently and wanted to try it, so did, and it’s good. It screams ‘old school’ WCIPA with both the hop bill (C-hops) and caramel malt that is bolder than many brewed now but it drinks well and is a great change-of-pace IPA
