I had this IPA at the FVB Launch Party and wasn't impressed. My biggest problem was that there wasn't enough cedar in the aroma and definitely not enough in the flavor. I was hoping for a good imitation of CCB Humidor IPA which was discontinued. It wasn't even close.
Then, a couple weeks later I went back to FVB/Brass Tap and had it again. It was a completely different story. The cedar was there! The bartender said they had a second keg that had more time to age on the cedar. Makes all the difference! Great cedar flavor that was perfectly balanced with the hops and malt of the beer. It was different than the CCB Beer because it didn't have the humidor/cigar flavor but the cedar still was very pleasant. In fact, it is a little more drinkable because unlike the CCB Humidor, the cedar flavor doesn't become cloying after the first beer. Hopefully Corey will brew this again.
