Picked this up on the way home from the West Coast not too long ago, having never heard of Trapezium before let alone having anything from them. I wanted to like this beer because it was new, exotic, and had a deconstructivist-style label but in the end, this needed a lot more going for it for me to truly enjoy it; outside of the novelty factor.
The pour to this beer was the best aspect of it as the hue to the beer was a deep gold with more than enough head to top the liquid off. Odd aroma of urine, cat pee, adjunct malts, and floral hops as the taste featured all of those notes (as if you'd want more of them). Hints of weed, bitter chocolate, straw, and caramel rounded this out. Somehow, this was just too earthy and unrefined to ever click with me as it tasted like something out of the wild, without truly being a Wild Ale.
Thankfully, this didn't have a lot of booze in it as the flavors were allowed to shine through, though more alcohol would probably have been preferred in this case. Worth a go once, if only to realize how lucky we are in this part of the country to have some of the best beers on the planet available within short reach.

A: A murky brown amber. Large white head, but the color is fairly atypical of the IPA style.
S: Malt. And a good bit of it, almost a little extract smell. In the back there is a little bit of a floral/berry aroma, as well as something else I can't quite put my finger on.
T: Lots of malt with caramel, and a bit of berry. There is certainly a rough bitterness in there, it's a touch floral, and the finish is pungent and earthy.
M: Medium bodied, with fairly active carbonation.
O:From the bottle: "This IPA features a minimalist grain bill to showcase it's great hop flavor." Stop lying to me. There is certainly some hop bitterness to it, but the body, the color, and the flavor are all out of sorts for the style. This tastes like a bad homebrew extract kit version of an IPA. Not only is it not an IPA, it's just not very good.
