Barleywines are high alcohol English ales renowned for flavors of raisin, prune, and caramel with a malty sweetness and a high alcohol content. Add all that with a boozy bourbon quality from aging in a Doc Porter's Bourbon barrel for a few months and you've got King Lear. It sits solidly in the British style of barleywine with a low bitterness and some vinous attributes indicative of extended aging.
