Tasty, good chocolate tones with mild mint. Not overwhelming mint.

i think folks have rated this one way low, and while mint is certainly a polarizing ingredient, especially in a beer, its a well crafted beverage and i think executes the mission more than admirably. my first beer (that i can remember) from these guys, its a dark and shiny black beer with a short off white head that sticks around a little while. high luster here wow. the nose is moderately minty, like a thin mint cookie indeed, or a junior mint candy, has that wintery mint thing going on, not peppermint intense, more subtle, and there is definitely a dark chocolate character there in the malt base between the roast and the lighter chocolate malts. very very cool. the mint is cooling on the palate too, and its not overly sweet, which helps me get though a glass no problem. a clever beer to say the least, it absolutely conjures up memories of hammering boxes of those thin mint cookies in my youth and heavy smoking days. i dont need more than one, but i would have regretted not trying this one. much better than a novelty, try one if you can, its got a great stout as its base too. props for pulling this off, and also props for being organic!!!

Poured a deep brown, almost black with no head.
Very drinkable, with light carbonation and sweet chocolate mint taste. Sweet and mildly hoppy aftertaste, with a Thin Mint cookie essence. Delicious, guess that why they call it Girl Stout.
Probably better suited as a dessert beer and would probably be great with a bowl of vanilla ice cream.
