on tap at steel barrel, which is sort of the taproom for the brewery incubator onsite from what i gather, which is a rad idea, and i liked this one pretty well. the honey really comes through the light golden malt base, and while its simple, its also pretty well refined, drinkable, and well made overall. the clarity and shine here is appealing, the lasting white head is pretty, and the slightly floral nose from the honey is mild but attractive, some sweetness evident, but it seems intentional, not a whole lot else going on in the aroma. the flavor has a little biscuity thing happening from the grain, the sweetness of the honey through most of it into the finish, and a faint orange profile, maybe from the hops and honey together. the ferment is pretty clean, just a little bit of an ester here as it warms up, but it works with the other elements and doesnt seem like a flaw to me. i like it better cold though, before the sweetness can come up too much, and while it still has some refreshment value. not overly ambitious here, but a solid example of a blonde honey beer and a solid introductory beer from young buck. the other one i had from them was vastly more complex and process intensive, so im pretty stoked about where it appears these guys are heading...
