300ml pour on-draught @ the brewpub for 160 baht.
4.0-4.5% ABV. Schwarzbier.
It actually pours a deep amber (contrary to its moniker), and boasts a creamy white head that lasts a good 5-7 minutes, leaving nice consistent lacing as it recedes.
Aroma is of bready malts, dark/schwarz malts, toasted malts, and amber malt syrup. Cream.
No noticeable hop or yeast aromatics. Average aromatic intensity.
Taste is of amber malts, cream, and some greasiness. Simple and shallow.
Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, well-carbonated, and of average thickness.
Overall, it's forgettable schlock but still decent by (low) Thai standards. The price is borderline extortion by local standards, and I wouldn't trifle with this brew again as a result - better than Chang though it is.
