A West Coast IPA inspired by California’s pioneers. This beer calls back to the Golden State’s craft brewing heritage. A staple symbol of a modern movement. Classically bitter and quenching with a strong malt backbone to complement.
Malt: Golden Promise, Wheat, Oats, Caramalt.
Hops: Simcoe, Amarillo, Idaho 7.

Canned in a big old tallboy crafty craft can and purchased from Timperley village Bargain Booze
Pours a fairly hazy golden body with big thick white head
Aroma is sweet malt and marmalade
Flavour for me gets lost in tropical fruit and doesn’t deliver enough bitterness at the end

Pours a hazy, deep amber coloration with a medium, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity, caramel malt and citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit and papaya, with just a hint of pine. Taste is a good balance of biscuity, caramel malt and bitter, slightly floral, resinous and juicy hops, with fruity citrus and tropical notes of grapefruit, tangerine, papaya and pineapple, as well as some pine. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some tangerine and papaya lingering in the aftertaste. Soft mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
While this makes for a tasty enough brew, it's not a great West Coast IPA in my opinion, lacking the proper bitterness and being a bit too sweet and floral. Also, a WCIPA is not supposed to be hazy and with its kinda juicy fruit notes and soft mouthfeel, this almost feels like more of a cross between a New England and West Coast IPA. While I'm not necessarily opposed to that, it doesn't quite work for me here, this feeling a bit neither here nor there. It's still got some nice, resinous character to it though, and makes for an interesting brew overall, but I was really looking forward to a proper WCIPA here and I don't feel like I got that. Also feels a bit boozy for the relatively low ABV.
