Pours yellow with a nice thick head. Great lacing and retention. Nose is slightly funky. No real malt or hop character to speak of. Possible Brett infection.
Taste: probable Brett infection. Doesn't taste BAD but doesn't taste like a kolsch. I get a slight funky, fruity, tart bite. Becomes much more pronounced as the beer warms.

I impulse-bought this at a Total Wine grand opening where they were sampling this. For all I know, Joe Braman probably sold it to me. It tasted good at the in-store sampling though.
Look: Pale yellow with ample head. Slightly cloudy and not clear.
Smell: Citrusy like an IPA but without the hoppy pine. Slight smell of sweet bread and caramel from the malt. Aroma is quite muted after the head disappears. Aroma is good but kind of weak, especially when compared to the hoppier semi-kolsch Sierra Nevada German Style IPA.
Taste: Very crisp and bubbly and a good amount of wheatiness. Lemony brightness to accompany and is easy drinking.
Finish: Caramel malts is the dominant flavor here with moderate bitterness like lemon peel to give it some bite. Lychee/pear flavor from hops is left on the tongue after a long time and caramel stays on even longer. Overall finishes very clean and crisp without being heavy, making it one of summer refreshing styles that seems to be especially popular in Houston.
Conclusion: Good, solid, but not outstanding. It's hard to stand out especially since you have Karbach's Love Street and St. Arnold's Lawnmower to compete against locally and I only find this to be about as good. my biggest problem with this is that it's only good and it costs $7.99 for a six pack when Love Street and Fancy Lawnmower are $6.49 locally in Houston. So overall it's really not as good if you have to pay more.

Nice flavor. Good balance, just not a 4 star or better
