Coffee Rauchbier made with Upstate Coffee's Honduras blend. The coffee hits right up front then fades out to bring on the smokey notes from the beechwood smoked malts.

On tap at Indian Ladder Farms in Altamont, NY.
This one pours a slightly dark brown color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like lightly sweet smokiness, old coffee, caramel, and breadiness.
The idea of a rauchbier with coffee is very intriguing. This has some promise, but it ultimately falls a little bit short, as there’s not a whole lot of distinct coffee flavor here. The smoking is done well, though, with no off flavors and a pleasant earthiness.
This is lighter bodied, slightly creamy, and pretty drinkable.
I wanted to like this more. It was still enjoyable, but didn’t live up to the premise.
