An easy-drinking red ale hopped with Centennial and Chinook, Fred's Red is brewed with a blend of darker malts that meet in the middle of the road to create perfect balance.
This brew is a tribute to the late Fred Tuttle, a Tunbridge dairy farmer, World War II veteran, and candidate for the United States Senate for Vermont in 1998. Fred will always be "the man with a plan."
A portion of the proceeds from teh sale of this beer will be donated to support the efforts of the Recreation Committee in Tunbridge.

From a 16 oz. can dated 10/14/2021. Sampled Nov 20, 2021.
The appearance is amber-red underneath a boisterous, puffy mocha or off-white head.
Pleasant malt and apple or berry fruits greet the nose. A slight roastiness. A slight tannin. Floral or fruit hop presence is downplayed.
Light-medium mouthfeel.
The taste is sweet and malt forward at first with the aforementioned fruity notes sneaking in at the end. It is a nicely done red ale.

Canned 9/16/20
Pours a giant frothy creamy 2+ finger head with crazy retention, never seems to fade, sticky lacing, color is a very dark chestnut like brown, not red at all, great head, bad color/clarity
Nose is hoppy, floral fruity hops, citrus, toasted grainy malt, bread crust and hint of buscuity chocolate cookie kinda thing, little pine as well
Taste starts with piney hops, a bit of citrus and spicy hop but lots of pine, mild sweet toasted malt, biscuity and more mild chocolate and toasted bread crust, a touch of toffee as well, med bitterness that ramps a bit on the finish, drier finish but a bit sticky, lingering spicy piney hops
Mouth is med to fuller bod, med creamy carb
Overall this was not really a red ale, way too dark in color and malt characters, way too hoppy in pine and spicy hops, etc, a lot more like a brown IPA that is something I don't like, not really balanced as they suggested, a hodgepodge of characters that do NOT blend well. Looking at other reviews, it almost seems like they screwed up this batch and it's a completely different beer, but they still canned it and shipped it.

A: The beer is hazy reddish brown in color (brown when viewed from afar). It poured with a quarter finger high beige colored head that left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of floral and spicy hops are present in the nose along with hints of pine.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the piney hops are a bit stronger and there are contrasting flavors of dark and caramel malts. The hops contribute a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I thought that the taste of this red ale had a very good balance between the malts and hops.

10/17/19 stamped on can
tasted 11/20/19
pours a dark, thick, muddy Amber. Almost like fermentating wort. Thin white head that dissipates rapidly, leaving a film
hints of the classic "C" hops in the nose, sweet and malty in the background
decent hop bitterness and malty balance, could be bit more
crisp and relatively clean, light on the tongue
decent Red Ale
