Dark German malts are used to create a red color and subtle fruitiness that is unlike any other beer on the market. A healthy dose of American aroma hops accentuate the fruitiness and provide a refined bitterness that leaves you ready for another drink.

Aroma is piney hops, mild fruit/floral and slight vegetal. The flavor is fruit/citrus, slightly earthy malts, a hint of caramel sweetness in the middle and a piney/bitter hop finish.

From a 16oz can. Canned on Feb 10, 2025
This beer is slightly murky looking in the glass. The color of the beer is amber. There's a thick 4 finger tan colored head to the beer that has great retention, and some lacing on the glass. There's a few floaties in the glass.
The nose has malt notes, as I was expecting. Some cereal grain notes. There's a hint of caramel. I don't think there's rye in the beer, but it has a rye character to the nose.
The flavor is malty. There's caramel notes. Notes of grain. There's a bit of a hop bitterness, which mimics a rye flavor. It might be age, but there's not a lot going on in this category.
The body is very smooth. I do like the fullness. The hint of bitterness is quite pleasing.
This beer did get lost in my fridge, and it might have fallen off a bit in the flavor department. I am glad I got the chance to try it.

A: Pours a brilliantly clear dark garnet red color. A two finger white head forms with excellent retention. Rings of lace are left behind.
S: Floral and citrus hops up front. Very much American hops dominate here. A bit soapy, and a touch of caramel malts.
T: Like the nose, floral, citrus, grassy hops up front. There is a soapy hop flavor here, caramel sweetness, and lingering bitterness is pretty assertive.
M/O: A light to medium body. Crisp effervescent carbonation. With a soapy slickness, and would like this to finish a bit dryer. A good, enjoyable hoppy American lager. If not as exceptional as some other lagers Riggs has made, still enjoyable to drink.
Enjoyable and well made for the most part. Though doesn't hit the highs of their traditional Helles or Schwarzbier. Though overall, just something that is good to have at the brewery.
