Weizenbock has a higher ABV, is slightly darker, and has more body than its little brother, Hefeweizen. Weizenbock’s banana aroma will remind you of Hefeweizen, but due to its higher alcohol content, Weizenbock also has notes of vanilla and rum. Our wheat beer yeast’s spicy character helps to cut through a mild sweetness to deliver the balanced finish that you’ve come to expect from a Riggs Beer.

From a 16oz can. Canned on Oct 08, 2024
The beer looks somewhat murky and is a burnt orange color. There's a 3 finger slightly off white head to this beer that is fluffy looking. The head retention is quite good, and I really love the lacing on the glass.
Holy cow, there's a lot of banana in the aroma, but there's a lot more as well. I get a good hit of bread. I get a lot of caramel. The yeast is also hitting my nose a lot and there's a hint of earthiness.
The flavor has a lot going on. There's a hint of bread right away. This flavor morphs into a good banana hit. The banana mellows out, but doesn't disappear. The caramel notes come into play on the finish with a hint of that earthy note that I got on the nose.
The body is very smooth feeling. I like the fullness to this beer. It has a creamy feeling to it.
Wow! This beer is downright delicious. So happy to have had the chance to try it.

Appearance: Pours a cloudy pear nectar color with a bubble show that builds three fingers; excellent retention with clumps of lace
Smell: Wheat graham cracker, banana, vanilla and caramel dipped apple; hint of rum raisin
Taste: Toasted wheat bread and graham cracker support the esters, with banana, caramel dipped apple, pear and vanilla making a statement; after the swallow, a rum raisin aspect emerges to bring complexity to the finish
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; somewhat creamy with moderate to high carbonation
Overall: A magnificent Weizenbock that would show well against any brewed in Germany
Thanks, falloutsnow, for the opportunity

Poured from pint canned on 10/06/21, so about 2 3/4 months old. Somewhat flat carbonation; creamy head of 3/8 inch dissipated quickly. Good aroma of wheat beer, slight citrus, yeast, barely banana. Hazy pale amber color, medium mouth feel. Better flavor than the aroma would lead one to believe. Sweet, spicy, malty. Well balanced. Good but not a must have.

Thanks to falloutsnow for this one, can date lost on the side
Pours a light airy off-white 1 finger head with moderate retention, a little whispy lacing, very hazy cloudy orange-red slight auburn color
Nose is quite nice, lots of wheat and malt, creamy doughy wheat, some bread dough, big fruity esters with banana dominating, some citrus as well, a little pear and fig, a bit of vanilla and cake batter, a bit of caramelized sugar, and light smooth alcohol
Taste brings more of the same, with the wheat out front, doughy, a bit creamy, a little biscuity even, more bread dough and a little orange cake, fruity esters as well although a little less than the nose, citrus and banana up front again, some sweet caramel and a bananas foster flavor, as well as some white raisins and fig paste, a little vanilla and honey cake as well, a hint of smooth alcohol, mild bitterness and herbal hop notes late, semi sweet sticky finish
Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, soft creamy with med foamy carb, just a hint of alcohol
Overall a very nice Weizenbock

A: Pours a cloudy and dark orange//burnt yellow/reddish color if that makes sense. A dense two finger white head forms with good retention and plenty of lace.
S: At first, banana clove/spice, wheat. Then the darker malts come in, doughy and bread, like, other esters come into play as well. Really enjoyable.
T: Wonderful esters up front. Banana and clove like spice, some pears and caramelized apples. Dough and baked bread, brown sugar. Simple and really enjoyable.
M/O: A full body with good carbonation. That is also ultra smooth. Very moreish, I downed this in big gulps and can come back with ease.
This is more in the Vitus vain. Not quite dark Weizenbock and more ester like. A really good and enjoyable version of the style. As should be expected from this brewery.

I'm giving this scores which represent a fresh version of this beer I've had at the brewery, but the text represents a flat growler pour. Even flat I'd give it a 3.75 for look, 3.5 for feel, and 4.25 overall. This is a seriously delicious beer even flat.
A: Poured from a growler (past it's prime) into a pint glass. Dark brown with no head. (when fresh this has a glorious and amazing head)
S: Banana and brown sugar
T: It tastes like banana, sweet but well balanced
M: It feel heavy on the tongue (when fresh the carbonation lightens it up)
