3yo bottle (2017): Chocolate, wood, light smoke, cherry, black plum, viscous, vibrant acidity, lambrusco.
A shame to those that opened young bottles- this beer is flawless and should be the prime example of mixed culture, sour Stouts.

Thanks to RedhawkPoke for this “Blind Beer” during NBS BIF #6. We all sent each other a beer with all labeling covered, and are reviewing the beer without any information.
What seems to be a 16oz bottle poured into 12oz tulip. Poured solid black, with no light showing through, and less than ¼ inch of dark tan head that dissipated quickly, and left very light lacing.
Some bourbon notes on the nose, somewhat obscuring the base malts. Maybe a touch of a sour tang as well? Whoo boy! On the tongue there is a definite sour aspect, but none of the bourbon I thought I smelled. Peculiar. Not much malt showing through, and as I progress, the sourness starts to totally dominate.
The body seems a bit light, if a Stout, but is smooth, with a nice amount of carbonation over the tongue. Drinkability is nice, but the sourness builds, requiring a bit of water now and again. Overall, a pleasant brew, but perhaps one that would be better appreciated with a smaller pour. Worth trying if you see it.
