The fact is, Theo's is a beer-lovers haven in a rather underpopulated area. There are places to get beer nearby, and then there's Theo's. Sugarloaf USA may even host another brewery and have a Shipyard Brewhaus, but then there's Theo's.
It's a good thing that skiing melts off so many calories: between the rich food and the beer, Theo's is not the place for a sweltering hot summer's day. It's not like they have too many of those up Rangely way, but I prefer Theo's on a blustery cold evening when a huge gooey pesto chicken pizza pie and some good Sugarloaf pale does its best work.
Lodge-like in character, with more of a lived-in feel of some lodge-like brewpubs elsewhere, Theo's is all about the wood, the beams, the wooden chairs and tables. One big room houses most of the ambiance, which can get pretty boisterous on a winter weekend night. Summer eves can bring out a few golfers, and a nice patio-sit, staring at the stars without a hint of light pollution.
It's not a perfect brewpub, but it is perfect for the region.
