When the whole COVID-19 situation hit this spring, a lot of things changed in a hurry. Without demand for draught beer, we ended up with some extra time and tank space to fill. We immediately started scheming up "Quarantine Quad". Traditionally a Belgian style Quad is brewed with candy sugar, as it is easily fermented and helps a achieve a lighter-bodied high alcohol beer. With the uncertainty around acquiring ingredients during this time, we decided to use readily available maple syrup! Hunker down and enjoy this somewhat traditional-ish Belgian ale....it's pretty strong, but hey, you've got nowhere to be!

Brewed early in the pandemic - 2020 - saved until pandemic over, but now deep into 2022, 3 mRNA vaccines in and now a hit of Omicron, decided to enjoy on last day of our quarantine because no end in site of this thing (unless you take the head in the sand approach).
Pours a surprisingly thin clear watered down cola brown colour with brief bubbly khaki coloured head. They did warn on bottle a little under carbonated - see below.
Aroma has notes of berries, fruity in nature, brown sugar, but with deep inhalation there is a bit of solvent/nail polish remover in there.
Tastes sweet and fruity - berries, caramelized brown sugar, raisin, a touch leathery, fruity esters but without getting the negative seen on aroma.
Despite the pour this is not thin - solid medium full mouth feel; actually, despite the warning.the carbonation seemed decent (perhaps an extra 2 years of added bottle conditioning) - some sweet boozy warmth.
Solid - only the whiff of acetone detracts.
