Have you ever had a chocolate covered banana in a can?? Probably not, because that seems like a dumb thing to make. A beer that loosely embodies that idea however, was hopefully a great idea! We brewed this wheaty monster with traditional Hefeweizen yeast which, as it’s working hard to ferment such a strong beer, kicks off some delicious banana-like flavours. When the tank stopped a-bubblin’ we added a tasty helping of cocoa.

From a city wide “Wyrd Bier Adventure” in the heart of northern Alberta winter.
Pours a cloudy deep bronze orange with a finger of tawny cream coloured head.
Dessert like aroma with green banana, baking spice, juicy fruit gum, a yeasty note and a touch of cocoa.
Tastes like an amped up hef for sure - banana, spices, yeast, a bit fruity with a sweet cocoa flavour - very much the chocolate covered banana they suggest.
Creamy and bright with a fuller mouthfeel - active carbonation - I would not say boozy but the 8.5% does contribute significantly to the feel of this interesting and yeah, a little “Wyrd” beer.
