Picked this up from NASH himself during an in person trade in Halifax Nova Scotia! This is a 12 oz brown bottle from 2008. No lable on her, just a pumphouse cap and hand written RIS on it. So you could say its autographed too.
Poured rigorously from the bottle into an oversized snifter, forming about an inch of brown head.
Receding to leave a bubble island and a thin collar in retention.
Black in color with zero light penetration. Aroma is super rich and syrup like with dark chocolate, loads of malt, dairy like lactose aroma, malted milk balls galore, vanilla, maple syrup, a dash of bourbon and charred wood.... the list could go on and on.
Taste is robust in coffee, dark chocolate, its pretty woody actually with distant bourbon flavors. Vanilla beans, maple sap/ syrupy sweetness. There is a bit of sweetness in the taste keeping balance amongst the flavors and the large amounts of charred wood and roasty chocolate grain. Some dark fruit and a touch of spice. This finishes well with chocolate, bitters and toasted wood.
Mouthfeel is good, just a touch more of carbonation then hoped, but this was not bottled, or offered/ distributed as such, so I cant be too hard on the feel. Still some slick creamy full bodied texture here, so overall a great mouthfeel.
So delicious and quite the sipper. Alcohol was noticeable in aroma, but never hot, just mildly boozy in bourbon form. Some mild esophageal warming through the swallow.
Absolutely Delicious. Thank you so much Greg for saving me a bottle of this!!!

Black with a creamy espresso head.
Aroma was very oaky acompanied by some complex fruits malts.
The taste is very earthy and has an musky wood flavor to it.
Good silky body and carbonation. A good stout that is totally changed by the oak aging. I can barely detect the original backdraft under the oak. Complex and very unique.
