A decent porter, maybe a bit thin. Pours nice dark brown color with thin beige head and light lacing. Good chocolate, toasted pumpernickel smell and taste. If a bit more full bodied, this would be Avery good porter.

$ 2.15(Including tax and discount)/12 oz can ($ 0.179/oz) from Spec’s #100, DeZavala, San Antonio. Reviewed 4/26/19.
Undated can other than “BATCH 5 CHEERS ENJOY” on bottom. On shelf in store. Stored at 42 degrees and served at 54 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 4.
Body – Dark brown, opaque. When held to the light, still opaque.
Head – Large (Maximum six cm, aggressive center pour), tan, medium density, average retention, diminishing to a five mm ring and a thin cap.
Lacing – Fair. Narrow rings of tiny bubbles, connected by short, stumpy, columns.
First pour – Dark brown, clear.
Aroma – 4 – Roasted malt, molasses.
Flavor – 3.25 – Begins with a slight malt bitterness and a very weak roasted malt flavor. No alcohol (6.1% ABV), no dimethylsulfide, no diacetyl.
Palate – 3 – Thin, watery, soft carbonation.
Impression and interpretation – 3 – The whole is less than the sum of the parts. What starts out with a good appearance and aroma is dragged down by the ghostly flavor and the average palate.
