A Texas style porter, rich and malty, yet extremely easy to drink. It blends chocolate and roasted barley with subtle notes of coffee malt, creating refreshing and delicious flavor profiles. This beer's dark body pays tribute to the fertile farmland of Taylor's Blacklands prairie. A portion of the proceeds benefit the Bill Pickett foundation.

Bill Picket Porter has a very thick, beige head, a nearly black appearance, and some lacing. The aroma is of malt and brown bread crust. The flavor is of that, with bitterness and a touch of sourness. Sweetness is low. Bill Pickett Porter has a medium body and a dry finish.

Jet black pour, steady mocha head. Nose is coffee and coco.
Taste brings bakers chocolate, cherries, cold brew coffee, dark kilned malt, floral, touch wood. Medium to full mouthfeel, silky. Finish is bittersweet blackened malt.

Malt,Roasted coffee and burnt toast.
Super dark appearance.
Perhaps ever so slightly light for the style.
I am digging this!
If I wasn't in explorer mode, this would be a regular purchase!
God Bless Texas..

A: Pours a dark brown, near black color. A small beige head forms and recedes quickly, light lace left behind.
S: Light roasted malts and grains. That is about it. Overly simplistic but fine.
T: Like the nose, light roast, light coffee, and a graininess is more apparent for me. Not a lot here for me to comment on.
M/O: A lighter body than the ABV would suggest. Moderate to low carbonation, and makes this seem thin. OK to drink once, but not something I'm looking to come back to.
I always appreciate less is more examples of styles, but this is too simplistic and light for me. Nothing is really wrong here, just needs more oomph.

From a can dated 10/1/24. Black color with a half inch of foamy brown head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Full bodied. Rich roasted malt flavor with moderate sweetness and an earthy finish. Very nice

Bought as a 12 oz at HEB in Lubbock, Texas.
Poured into a pint glass . Dark brown almost black liquid. Toasty flavor with vanilla, faint caramel notes. Starts dry with a slight sweeter finish. More hops than expected
Medium mouthfeel.

All the check boxes for a porter are checked with this beer. It's not spectacular, but it's solid and delicious. Sufficient hops temper the sweetness, with roasted, toasted and subtle lightly burnt flavors dominating. Can't complain here. I've bought sixers and sample packs that had this beer and I'm never disappointed.

12 oz. can
Appearance: Black glass holds a thin cover of tan foam that gives up some short lived lacing. Some clear brown edges when tilted.
Aroma: Earthy hop, roasted barley, a little malty sweetness.
Taste: Mild profile, the earthiness gives way to a slight citric hop, the roasted note isn't harsh but balances well with the sweet malt. Mostly clean finish, a slight bitter note lingers.
Mouthfeel: Medium light body, low carbonation, watery texture.
Overall: I dislike porters, and I like this. Doesn't have that strong earthy note I associate with porters. Easy drinking but enough character to be interesting. I'll be picking up more (local HEB carries them).
