Our English-style barleywine was aged for more than a year in rum and red wine barrels and then blended to create a 10.2% ABV sipper that's perfect for a cold Minnesota night. Notes of caramel, dates/raisins, and rum.

Half pint pour at the tap room.
Cloudy, brown body. Minimal head or lacing.
Smell is sweet dark fruit, caramel, and rum barrel.
Taste is as the brewer describes: Notes of caramel, dates/raisins, and rum. Just a hint of the red wine barrel.
Medium mouth feel.
Well done as a sipper.

This beer pours a lighter brown color. Head was minimal, but what was there was white.
The nose is very light. I do get a slight funky, earthy aroma from this beer.
Taste - is mellow for a fraction of a second, then a bunch of flavors hit me. I get a caramel flavor. I get a vanilla flavor. A bit of like raisins. There's also some heat from the alcohol, but it isn't strong.
Feel - Fairly full bodied. A creamy mouthfeel before a bit of the alcohol heat kicks in.
Damn delicious beer. Another hit from Wild Mind. They are fast becoming my favorite place to hit up, too bad it's so far from me.

Dark brown coloration, slimmish head. Looking alright.

Aroma: sweet, spicy, glimmers of cocoa and dark fruits, plums and dates. Belgian funk floats up. Very nice.

In the mouth: a little bit of grit on the palate, flashes of funk, sweet malt that turns quick to dry. Dry and drinkable. Medium-bodied, long, malty finish. High spiciness through the flavor. Alcoholic heat burning up.

I like this one. Good drinking'. Tast-y!

What does the brewery have to say? "Notes of cocoa nibs, honey, toffee, light citrus and dates."
Okay. Sounds good.
