Barrel-aged on Cameroonian coffee beans, this imperial stout has notes of brown sugar, pecans, and chocolate to accompany a heavy malt bill and a pleasantly warming 11.5% ABV.

Appearance - Pours jet black with big tan colored head and spotty lacing all around the glass.
Aroma - Wonderful coffee aroma, chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts. There is a great light sweet aroma as well.
Taste - Wow big coffee, chocolate/roasted malt flavor. Light vanilla the sweetness in the aroma is taken over by more bitterness in the taste. No sign of the alcohol great flavors.
Feel - Big smooth creamy feel just a hint of dryness great body.
Overall - A very well done coffee stout smooth great flavors.

Poured from 750ml crowler can into glass. Released on 2/17/2018.
Opaque, black colored body. Two finger creamy and bubbly head, mocha brown colored, settles to thick cap. Has a fine web of lacing.
Aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee, with nutty and chocolate aspects there but less prominent.
Taste is dark roasted malts, more chocolate than coffee (opposite of the aromas), has a nutty component. There is a menthol-like or vanilla-like effect that comes quite late in the taste profile (best described as a "cooling" effect on the tongue). Brewer also includes brown sugar in the profile, and the beer is quite sweet but I am getting it from the chocolate (more milk chocolate than dark chocolate). The coffee provides some balancing bitterness.
Mouth feel is full and creamy/mouth coating. Rather dry. No alcohol burn.
When compared to the companion release 'Double Depth Charge - Whiskey Barrel', this beer does not have any of the barrel aspects, and I think has a wider range of flavor. Both are definitely coffee dominated beers, but the sweeter chocolate and the nutty/vanilla are contributing more in the non-whiskey Double Depth Charge. Relatively easy drinking for the higher ABV.
