Tangy Hugs

At the brewery, into a tulip, pours a kind of hazy apricot with a little head and some minimal lacing. Neither nose nor taste is all that tangy but it is a little funky and a tiny bit sour; at any rate, the soursop is kind of brilliant for the milk/citrus angle (of which, i’m not really a big fan). The purée used affects the mouthful...kind of chewy but not creamy, on one end and no bitterness or tart liveliness either, on the other end. Not bad, but a little nondescript. Lots of promise on this. I’d love to see them experiment some more with the soursop.

 

 

 

Brewer's Notes: "Tangy Hugs, a creamsicle-esqe IPA with soursop and tangerine puree added, is now available on tap and in crowlers. This Northeast IPA was brewed with a blend of UK Golding, Citra, and Simcoe hops, as well as our wild house yeast blend and milk sugar, to create a complex hazy IPA."

Pint pour at Wild Mind. 'Soursop' is the fruit of a tropical climate evergreen tree. Its flavor has been described as "a combination of lettuce and tomatoes, with sour citrus flavor notes". Provides a creamy texture as an additive.
Bright yellow, totally hazy body. No head or lacing.
Citrus fruit aroma.
Taste is heavily influenced by the tangerine, quite a bit of sweetness.
Creamy mouth feel.
This is a sweet, ice cream type IPA. Minimal bitterness.
