Whiskey, coffee, and more whiskey shine through in Double Depth Charge Whiskey Bean. Imperial stout is a blend of a stout aged in Knob Creek barrels for more than a year and a stout aged on Whiskey barrel-aged coffee beans, resulting in a enticing overload of coffee and whiskey. Roasty malt and notes of sugar cookies and dark fruits round out this 11.5& ABV dark beast of a stout.

Poured from 750ml crowler can into glass. Beer was released in crowlers and on tap on 2/17/2018.
Opaque, black colored body, with just a hint of reddish brown highlights at the edges, when presented to light. One finger of mocha brown, creamy, bubbly head, which settles to creamy cap. The glass is left with lots of spots and sheets of lacing.
Coffee aroma blooms forth from the can opening. Aroma is dark roasted malts, coffee, whiffs of whiskey, and a little oak.
Taste follows nose but is more expressive with a sweet cookie aspect (not bread but baked cookie), as well as an addition of slightly sour dark fruit. The heat of the alcohol is close to adding a light vanilla taste and is quite warming. There is just a hint of earth and leather there also as the beer warms. Chocolate is not really there, instead there is coffee and whiskey.
Mouth feel is medium and somewhat creamy/mouth coating.
With aging this beer may lose some its predominant dark roasted coffee aroma and flavor, and allow more of the fruit aspects of the coffee bean to emerge. As it is from its relatively early "bottling" date/age from the barrel, the beer is still relatively balanced, and presents well.
