This German twist on a Baltic Porter was fermented using a blend of our mixed culture yeast and a traditional hefeweizen yeast. A dark malt bill provides notes of chocolate to pair perfectly with the banana-notes from the hefe yeast's esters. The end product was conditioned on coconut flakes to round out this unique porter with a hint of sweetness.

This is the crowler version, as described: "Das Nanners is a Baltic Porter brewed with a dark malt bill and fermented with Hefeweizen yeast - tastes like chocolate and bananas. For the crowler version, we put in 1 clove of Peruvian ginger soaked in Caribbean rum."

The on tap version does not include the ginger adjunct.

Poured from crowler into glass. Minimal head but thin brown cap stays around. Leaves a few spots and sheets of lacing.
Has a quite black, opaque body.
Aromas include dark malt, chocolate, and banana. The spices are faint.
Taste is dark roast with dark chocolate emphasis. The banana is certainly there, and blends in very well. The ginger and rum just add a certain extra layer of flavors which express most at the tail end of the taste profile. More sweet than bitter or sour.
Typical thinner porter mouth feel. Low carbonation level.
Tasty Baltic style porter, easy to drink.
