Aroma is quite woody, like freshly sawed dried logs, with semi-sweet chocolate and spice.
Deep dark opaque black topped by a thick dark tan head. The head recedes to a ring with islands within a few minutes, leaving thin strings of lacing. Before the head recedes, this is quite a nice looking stout.
In taste, the woodiness is still there, but a little more subdued (while also being enhanced from the aroma with each sip) behind vanilla, spice, and chocolate. The combination is unique to any of the Imperial stouts I have had to date. The various flavors of wood, vanilla, spice, and chocolate come together in a way that is not all that complimentary, sad to say. The finish and aftertaste is where the bittering begins, growing in the aftertaste, to becoming quite bitter. There is no obvious whiskey flavor (or aroma). The alcohol is hidden.
The mouth feel is thick and chewy.
A very unique stout. The wood from the barrel aging is the most obvious wood flavor of any BA beer I have tried; almost like smelling a sawmill. Overall, however, the combination of the rye barrels, cinnamon, cocoa, and coffee (the flavoring additives listed by the brewer) just don't work for me.

750ml bottle, with release date in February of 2019.
Dark brown colored body, with brown backlit highlights. Two finger tan head upon pouring, which slowly settles back to thinner cap and ring. Leaves behind some scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma of dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, very dark coffee, and just a hint of spice.
Taste allows the cinnamon to join in with the bitter espresso coffee and the slightly bitter dark chocolate, with the solid roasted malt base and spicy rye. Even with all the bitter components, the beer ends on a light note that suggests vanilla.
Thick and mouth coating for mouth feel. Very smooth. Higher ABV% is hidden well. Super easy to drink a little too fast.
Very tasty stout from a local brewer not well known for well done stouts. This brewer is more into the wild ales and using wild yeast. Judicious use of the cinnamon, espresso, and cacao to heighten the experience. The coffee is super yummy and bitter. I had this beer both from the tap and from the bottle with a similar enjoyable drinking experience.
