This mead/sour hybrid was aged in blackberry mead barrels on approximately blackberry puree and additional mead. After aging in the blackberry mead barrels for 6 months, the tart, jammy beer was bottle conditioned to round out a beer that blurs the lines between beer and mead.

Murky orangey bronze body, no head save a clear bubble ring. Smell is pretty simple but potent: tart blackberry, honey, oak, grains and yeast. Taste is fascinating in that it does actually blur the lines of mead and a wild ale. The yeast and wood keep it from getting too sweet like a mead, but the blackberry tartness and honey sweetness are certainly impressionable. A very nice summer dessert beer because of the fruity sweetness, especially in the promised jammy finish. Purists will probably hate it, but for the exploratory beer advocate I say try this one out!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
