16oz can
date stamped 07/14/20
thanks to my neighbor, Lenny for giving me a 4 pack to try!
L: a thick foamy beige head caps an opaque & hazy yet brilliant orangey colored ale
S: juicy tangerine, mango, papaya
T: tangerine & orange zest, papaya, piney mango; some faint wild yeast
F: full, creamy, and smooth; soft carbonation, balanced finish
O: first experience with this brewery, and this was good. I see that they used their own strain of wild yeast; it was subtle but did add some complexity

16 fl oz pull-tab can (which shows Waunakee, WI as the place where it's brewed despite Wild Mind claiming to be in Minnesota...did Pequod Distro arrange a contract brewing arrangement they haven't disclosed?)
"Hazy IPA hopped with Mosaic and Ella." 6.4% ABV.
Served cold into a stemless wine glass.
A:Turbid orange body of okay vibrance. Not much of a beer to look at. Seems pulpy and a bit undercarbonated.
Sm: Blueberry from Mosaic. Citrus pulp. Lychee. Tropical fruit. Mango. Papaya. Wheat. 2-row.
Suggests a turbid IPA with a nice hop profile, but its ABV seems rather low for an IPA brewed in 2020.
T/Mf: Turbid, coating, pulpy, and medium-bodied. Citrus pulp and vague tropical fruit (papaya and mango, I guess) sit comfortably alongside each other without any synergy or gestalt cohesion. Wheat and 2-row lend this its hum-ho malt backbone. Proteiny and thick on the palate. I don't love the hop profile but it's not acrid or unpleasant...has the usual turbid IPA minimal bitterness but also the limited depth of hop flavour.
OVERALL: Mosaic isn't exploited to its full potential in this, but it's a drinkable low ABV IPA with enough going for it to merit trying once. I can't say I crave another or would want a sixer, but it's competently executed and the the haze-chasers will probably bandwagon-hop it despite its shortcomings.

Hazy as promised; pulpy and opaque, with a very dark brownish-orange colored body. Decent head production, retention, and lacing.
Very herbal aroma: pungent, moderately dank, peppery, leafy. Indistinctly juicy, with notes of mandarin orange, papaya, perhaps dragon fruit.
Similarly bright up front, but with a nice complement of juicy hop tones. Still a touch muddled and indistinct; I get some more papaya, very sweet orange, peach, very light berries. Restrained but noticeable dankness. Plenty of hop flavor for a relatively low ABV IPA.
Smooth on the palate, while retaining a touch of bite. Fairly wet finish.
