A harvest ale with old world barley and malt. Fermented with Voss Kviek in stainless steel then aged in horizontal oak foeders. Hopped with Saaz and Hallerta Mittlefrüh.

At the brewery, into a Monica, here’s what the description says:
Drawing on various brewing traditions of Northern Europe, kveikafest celebrates the changing of seasons using old world barely and rye malts. Fermented hot and fast with Voss Kveik and cold conditioned in our horizontal oak Foeders. Kveikafest is rustic, earthy, and complex.
I agree with the rustic, earthy, and complex….and it does have an old worldly taste to it, too….this is not bright and shiny or loud.
Pour is a dense slightly hazy copper amber. Some head and great lacing. Nose is wet barley, solid and earthy but not spicy rye.
