Inspired by the unique and popular smoothie drink of The Dominican Republic, Morir Sonando, or To Die Dreaming. We took inspiration from this delicious beverage and blended loads of orange, pineapple, and milk sugar for a creamy tropical sweet treat. We love simple things that amount to much more than the sum of their parts and that's exactly what we like to think the Die Dreaming is. Something simple and enjoyable that you'll remember long after it's gone.

When does beer become a smoothie? When its made with more pieces and parts of fruit than it does of traditional ale. Wild Minds doesn't mind bringing a land-locked boredom to their beer portfolio as their Dominican inspired sour smoothie ale is cram packed with orange, pineapple, and milk sugar.

Pouring with a turbid matte finish upon a goldenrod meringue austere, Die Dreaming follows with a well-headed and cottony froth fades into a mouthwatering display of citrus and citrus fruits that teases the nose with promises of sherbet, creamsicle and fruit punch. Sweet on the tongue, the first flavor impressions are creamy and sugary with suggestions of cereal, agave, sweet cream, taffy and honeysuckle.

A quick shift to fruits, allow the middle palate to shine with bold island cocktail flavors of added orange and pineapple. But a background of passionfruit, mango, lime, lemon, apple and sour white grape all seem to support the fruit additions while a souring balance of dry cider and wine give a much needed offset to the creamy sweetness for a hint of horchata in its waning taste.

Full bodied for sour ale, the rich, creamy and plush mouthfeel is somewhat marshmallowy with a spicy sourness to close. A medium length aftertaste is that of fruit juice concentrate, still in the tube. Die Dreaming may be a not be your father's sour ale, but what's undeniable is that this cocktail inspired ale is worth dying for.
