I'm rating to style, here, and I feel like whereas with a pilsner, the average is typically and unfairly mid-3s, with imperial stouts, the average is usually above 4, so a lot higher...but i don't think that makes sense. For me, compared to other imp stouts, this has lots of good stuff going on, but it is nowhere near exceptional...anyway:
At the tap room, into a snifter. Pours a very viscous deep dark black, with some dark brown at the edges when held up to the light. No head or lacing. Nose (for the style) is mild but promises some really great juicy maple, a little milky chocolate and (not at all bitter) coffee notes...so juicy, that I'm looking hard for some kind of citrus or something. Taste follows the nose, but also brings a little fresh leather or tobacco notes, too. Again, really really juicy, and kind of one-note, without as much depth as a the exemplars of the style showcase, but...super enjoyable, still. Not very hoppy or lively, but very wet and medium bodied in terms of mouthful...again, really juicy and fruity in a non-descript way, sweet in a fresh leathery way. Interesting imperial stout. I don't really get much in terms of the spices that are advertised in the tap room description.,,.maybe there's a little cinnnamon, but it isn't that intersting. Would be curious what this was like after a year or two of aging.

Poured from the tap at the brewery. This beer looks very thick and pitch black - no way light will shine through. The head is a beautiful shade of brown. No thickness to the head, as expected, and no lacing on the glass. When I swirl the glass to smell the beer, the beer seems to cling to the glass.
The nose is a decadent mix of maple, chocolate, caramel, toffee, and a ton of bourbon from the barrel.
In the flavor, there's a decent amount of cinnamon that the nose didn't let on. The cinnamon starts it off and continues throughout. I get vanilla that seems to hit on the backside. There's a hint of sweetness up front, maple. Faint chocolate, caramel, toffee. The coffee hits, but not overpowering. Some barrel, but not a lot, just enough to know it's here.
Thick as all get out. Smooth, creamy, full. The cinnamon provides a burn that lingers. There doesn't seem to be an alcohol burn, but it's probably mixed in with the cinnamon.
This is a sold beer, but a sipper and in small quantities. I got a half pour, and it's plenty.

16oz can. No dating information found.
Black colored body. No real head upon pouring but there is a layer of bubbles that disappear, leaving a thin ring and scattered spots of head on the surface. No lacing.
Aroma of spices - nutmeg and cinnamon, and an appearance of black coffee.
Taste is sweet with dark berry, chocolate, nutmeg, cinnamon, and a touch of coffee. Chocolate, berry, and spices in the aftertaste.
Heavy and syrupy mouth feel. Quiet carbonation.
Thick dessert beer with chocolate and spices, not very much coffee presence.
