Brewed with a blend of brown coffee malt, aromatic malt, and Caramunich, we rounded this beer out with lactose for a nice sweeter finish then aged it on Mamajuana wood from the Dominican Republic. Mamajuana is known in the Dominican as an aphrodisiac and also to have healing properties

On tap at brewery, and growler drank night of pour:
Pours on the darker side, but with the tipping of the glass, you can see the clarity of the beer. Keg was a tad foamy by the time we had the growler filled, so head was a bit much, initially.
Nose is big on earthy spice - nutmeg and cinnamon and cardamom, must be from the wood. It's really more like a spiced winter warmer.
Taste is more of the same - a winter warmer without the warm (at 4.4%, not a surprise). It does end up featuring the wood a bit more than the base beer, which adds mostly a well-toasted light brown bread flavor.
The foaming led to a slightly flat beer, but not completely flat. Lighter body, for sure - even if there's a minor pass on the carbonation.
If you are looking more for a spiced ale or an earthy winter spiced ale, give this one a shot. Looking for a standard brown, pass it by.
