Revelation Craft Brewing Co. "Razz Sour"
16 fl. oz. can, "CANNED ON 05/30/2024 09:32 G2024-0 13". Sampled on 8 February 2025
$3.99 @ Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE

Notes via stream of consciousness: Revelation's "Razz Sour" has poured a very hazy pinkish colored body beneath a short head of white that faded immediately. It smells like raspberries with just a touch of mineralish character from a lactic fermentation. It's very well done though, and at first whiff it reminded me of a straightforward raspberry wheat ale. On to the taste... ahh, just repeat what I said about the aroma. It's good. The fruit is there, and very clear, and it's also sour without being too sour. There's no bitterness but no bitterness is needed as the acidity leaves it dry in the finish. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp with carbonation but the bite of the acidity from the souring bumps that up a little. I think it's great. It doesn't have the negative mineral component, or other odd notes, from a lactic fermentation, and the fruit flavor is authentic and clear. Sometimes when I drink a fruited sour I don't really get the specific fruit very clearly but that's not the case here. It's kind of like a standard fruit beer but with acidity added in rather than a sour beer with some fruit added in. Worth trying.

A - Pours a medium amber color with thin lacing and no carbonation.

S - Medium raspberry aroma with light juicy tartness.

T - Light fruity, raspberry tartness with a little bit of twang.

M - Medium body with very gentle carbonation and a wet finish.

O - Just the right amount of juicy puckering to make it an easy drinker.

Sampling a cold 16 oz can poured into my snifter. Beer is a gift from my brother Curt, thank you!
The beer pours a bright reddish tint, pretty much the color of raspberries. Very actives streams of carbonation rise to the surface and feed a fluffy khaki colored to slight pink head of 2 cm. This foam fades fairly quickly to a thin edge layer and some wispy islands on the surface.
The aroma is slightly tart raspberry note mixing some light biscuity malts. Nose is kind of mild in my mind, maybe a little sweet fruit note too, but not really any hops and the low ABV isnt present on the scents either. Sort of basic but not flawed nose.
First sip reveals a light body with crisp bite and smooth texture. Carbonation is medium and fairly gentle across my palate.
Flavor is tart raspberry first, then a bit of sweeter fruit hit and this goes back slightly acidic on the finish. The beer also dries out on the finish. I get no hint of hops nor booze and find this beer to be straightforward, crisp and refreshing.

On tap at Revelation Craft Brewing, Rehoboth Beach, DE.

Pours a ruby red color. A modest foam head retains well. It yields a thin ring of lacing.

As expected, the nose is dominated by tart raspberries. Aromas of wheat and bready malts, as well as a lactose sweetness.

The taste aligns with the aroma with its flavors of tart raspberry. Sturdy Pilsner and wheat malt backbone and a mild touch of peppery hops. There is a subtle lactose sweetness. The finish is tart and dry. Medium to light bodied, smooth and gently carbonated.

A refreshing raspberry sour. I would have liked the carbonation to be a bit more lively, but other than that, it was pretty good.
