On tap at Revelation Craft Brewing, Rehoboth Beach, DE. The brewery identifies it as an India Pale Lager and at 6.8% ABV.
Pours a clear golden color. A moderate head displays good retention and lots of lacing.
The nose displays grassy and herbal hops notes supported by a simple bready malt aroma. Later on, aromas reveal sweeter notes of fruity and floral hops.
The taste opens with bold hops spices that evoke sharp notes of pine needle, grass and firm bitterness. Yet, this is supported by a lager yeast flavors, clean and crisp, and with a cracker malt backbone for support. Some citrusy notes develop that are more on the tart spectrum and include notes of lemon, lime and contribute to an increasingly sourdough bread like flavor in the malts.
Medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. The finish is dry with a lightly tart and citrusy twang.
This was a refreshing brew for a hot day. It is hops forward, however, it could have used a bit more malt character and less of the tartness.
