Had on tap at RBC satellite in Georgetown DE. Very nice doppelbock. Brilliant deep dark clear ruby color with soft tan head. Head retention a bit weak though. Nose softly scented with malts and hints of hops. Taste mirrors but much bigger. Some classic German malts and hops suggested. Bready, dark dried fruits and some floral notes.
Body was the slightly heavier richer feel than a straight bock style.
Beer definitely opened and showed off as it warmed and aired.
Overall a very nice interpretation. And perfect on a damp cold gray April day like today.

On tap at the source.
A - Dark, dark copper color with some ruby hue, light lacing, low carbonation.
S - Toasted caramel malt with a slight bit of dark fruit.
T - Toasted malts up front with some dark fruit and mineral presence. Ends with a subtle bitterness with a slight bit of acidity.
M - Medium body that's silky smooth.
O - Decent, but not a stand out for the style. Would I try it again? Wouldn't turn it down.

On tap at Revelation Craft Brewing, Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Pours a clear dark copper color with hints of amber brown and visible carbonation. I ordered a smaller pour, however, the wispy head was well retaining and yielded a frothy thin ring of lacing.
The nose is sweet with biscuity and toasted malt notes, along with notes of chocolate, dark fruit and caramel. There is a hint of earthy noble hops that emit a grassy aroma.
Medium to full bodied, moderately carbonated and smooth mouthfeel. Rich malt forward flavors with notes of dark toasted and biscuity malts, toffee/caramel and chocolate. Yet, there is a good balance as I find the hops bitterness to a bit on the higher range of the style, but it works for me. The hops flavors are earthy and woodsy, while the alcohol adds a gentle spice. A dry finish shows lingering notes of dark chocolate and hops bitterness.
Pretty good Doppelbock that hides the alcohol very well. It feels more drinkable and less hearty than other examples of the style.
