Salted Watermelon Gose
Brewed with 1300 pounds of fresh watermelon, this beer changes with the season. First release of the year is tarter and tangier whereas the late summer/early fall release is lush and fruity as hell. Unfiltered, we add a little salt to this American-style Gose.

On tap at Garage Tavern into pint glass. Pours slightly hazy pale golden straw color with a small dense off white head, solid retention and spotty lacing on the glass for the style. Weak nose of watermelon and lacto. Taste of big watermelon, fruit seeds, lemon, lime, green apple, white wine, sea salt, lacto funk, herbal, grass. Medium tart sour tangy fruit finish. Crisp clean refreshing saline lingering acidic finish. Medium-high carb and light body; balanced grainy malt, lactic acid, and salinity in mouthfeel. Minimal puckering. Zero warming 4.4%. Big authentic fruit flavor. Not overly lactic. Very good gose for the style.

12 oz can from NC ($2.25 at Crafty Beer Guys) -- very fresh with a May 2019 date.
Pours with a hazy pale golden body and a weak head.
Tart aroma with soft, ripe pitted fruit notes.
Moderately tart and salty for style, yet relatively mild flavor; fruity with a nice bready base.

12 oz can
Pours hazy apple golden. No head retention.
Smells of saltine cracker and tart citrus.
Flavor is of citrus, dry cracker malt, and a bright, clean melon finish.
Light body, stinging carbonation on the tongue.
Light and refreshing. Really nice sessionable summer beer. Drinks very easy. Worth trying for that specific setting. Not sure I would go looking for it otherwise though.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium golden honey in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint pale pink + golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy sudsy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of slightly artificial watermelon with a light aroma of briny saltiness and very light aromas of slightly sour wheat.
T: Upfront there is a light flavor of slightly sour wheat malts with a hint of grainy sweetness and a light amount of lacto tartness. That is followed by a light amount of brininess and a light to moderate flavor of natural + artificial watermelon flavors. There is a light amount of lingering briny tartness in the finish.
M: Light bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of acidic prickliness are present.
O: Pretty easy to drink and enjoyable though I've never been a salted watermelon guy so there might be something a little lost on me. Alcohol is well hidden and it would be great on a hot summer afternoon.
