Also known as “common beer” this is a uniquely American beer based on pre-prohibition styles. This golden-amber colored beer is brewed with heavy amounts of six row barley and only lightly hopped for a balanced flavor.

Golden clear body with a modest level of carbonation visible, topped by a 1 inch tall thick white head that does not stick around too long. It remains thick and creamy as it recedes. There is a dense wall of lacing a quarter inch above the head, taller as you tip to drink, but it then slides down quickly.
Pleasant aroma: cracker/bread, some indistinct fruit aroma (perhaps lightly citrus), sweet.
Taste repeats the bready flavors evident in the aroma. The fruit has become more prevalent and has a mix of apple and citrus. Some mild bitterness arrives in the middle and carries through to the finish, keeping the beer in balance against the sweet malts. The finish is semi-sweet, but crisp, with a very nice and flavorful aftertaste.
Body is thin, but not overly so. Feel is smooth and crisp.
An easy drinking (this adjective seems to apply to all of the Lakeville beers I have tired) and enjoyable ale. The flavor is very good for a light-drinking ale. The finish, as I said, is crisp and refreshing. Of course, a cream ale is still a cream ale, so this is not going to challenge anyone's top 250 list, but it is well done and I liked it.
As I said last week, Lakeville Brewing is brewing well-done beers to enjoy with a meal or with friends at the pub.
If you have not re-visited Lakeville Brewing since right after they opened (or have avoided visiting due to early reviews), you might be surprised at the quality of their beers. I don't want to overstate, but the four beers I have tried have all been well done, and spot-on for their pub/restaurant no distribution business plan.
