Pours a pitch black coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and somewhat peaty smoke, with lighter notes of tobacco and chocolate. Taste is a great balance of roasted, smoked, caramel malt and notes of peat, tobacco, licorice, chocolate and ligher notes of dark fruits and leather. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some roasted, smokey notes lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
A lovely Smoked Porter with a complex balance of flavors ranging from sweet dark fruits, chocolate and caramel to quite roasted, smokey and bitter notes of peat, licorice and leather. While this is probably somewhat more roasted than actually smokey, it still has some lovely, if mild, peat, licorice and leather notes to it that make for a rather enjoyable brew.
