What's in a Name.
The Black Flag stands in direct opposition to the established norms. And that's exactly how we brew - crafting beers that focus heavily on flavors and aromas without concern for fitting any given category. Let go of the color by numbers system and open yourself to a whole new world of possibilities.
We are the first production brewery and taproom in Columbia with 10 taplines. We have 5 signature beers always on tap, and have a rotating list of 5 that we make on our small batch system.

Mon & Tues: Closed
Wed & Thur: 4pm - 10pm

Small intimate taproom with decent bar seating and a good amount of table seating for the size. Decent beer selection, good vibe, good service, chill clientele, food truck.

This is a nice place to hang out and have a few beers. The Star Wars theme runs strong with this place. Beer is always good, and there is a wide variety of beer to choose from. Service is top notch at the bar. Overall, stop at Black Flag if you get the chance.

Clean, high ceilinged modern space. Bar, some tables, a view into the brewhouse space. 10 beers good variety. Liked all of the 5 beers I sampled in the flight. The bartender was very friendly and helpful.

Tucked in an industrial area off of Snowden River Pkwy-I knew where it is as I use the supply house behind it but I can see it being a bit tricky to find. Decent vibe-good mix of folks including some families and some pets-one of the largest St Bernards I have ever seen. Anyway found a seat at the bar but in the corner at the right angle they have 3 chairs crammed where 1 would be more than enough. 10 beers on tap-3 being IPAs...service pretty quick and attentive. Rang my card automatically when I was leaving and was planning on paying cash-never asked me just went ahead and did it. Had the Brunch breakfast Stout and a Burner IPA-both good enough but nothing to rave about. I am sure I will be back to give it a 2nd try. Never hurts to try new places right?

This is my absolute favorite brewery in my area. Wonderful staff knows me by name and always treats everyone very well. Really lax vibe. You can bring your dog, play "bear pong" (not a typo - its giant beer pong), giant Jenga and Cards Against Humanity and they have food trucks almost every weekend parked outside.
They have the best beers in town. Rainbow Road (Hazy/NE IPA), Mambo Sauce (Imperial IPA), Brunch (Breakfast Stout), and Mother of Dragons (Smoked Porter) are my personal favorites. Definitely a "go-to" for anyone visiting Columbia.

Ok brewery, that was kind of a pain in the ass to find in the dark of the evening. Maybe a sign on the road would be a plus. Good space with lots of room, but almost not enough to contain a large crowd. I visited on a Friday night, and understandably, the bar was at capacity, and most tables were full. They have board games and a Beirut setup, and seem to be pet-friendly. TV at the bar. Service was decent. There was definitely a good variety of beers to choose from, though I wasn't a huge fan of any of them. The pale ale was good, the Brunch stout okay as well I suppose. Good stop if you're in the area, or if you're a local.

Great new brewery. Cool Star Wars artwork. My one complaint is with the "sample" pours/flights. The shot-style glasses are pretty small and overpriced ($2 or $2.50). I hate that style of glass and opted for a full pour served in a 12 oz snifter. Both the APA that I ordered and the milk stout my wife got were solid beers.

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Selections rotate with 5 standard brews and then 5 others. Like with all breweries in MD, zoning means bring your own food, or order from a food truck.
