Very orange hue, slightly thinner body than normal hefeweizens and high carbonation. Not much banana or clove but plenty of tasty wheaty yeasty mealy goodness. Drinks like a superior Erdinger.

From notes.
Poured from a 500ml bottle .
Pours a light cloudy orange amber , light bubbles , and a tight white bubbled head. The smell is strongly of yeast with citrus and orange and the taste follows on with a fairly rounded flavour and the addition of coriander, a slight sweetness, astringency and a hint of alcohol and a slightly dry finish. The mouth feel is almost creamy from carbonation .
Overall a decent wheat beer , a little too yeasty for me but good nonetheless.

Excellent example of hefeweize. Dark and promising orange-gold pour. Beautiful bready aroma and malty feel. Nice and yeasty. Slight citrus and banana as well. Perfect carbonation. One of my favorites.

Bottle date of 04.05.23. Considering this is one of my least favorite styles, this is already at the top of my list. Very delicious. A bit cloying after a while. Would love to try this on draft or even at the brewery.

Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus AG “Hefeweizen”
,5L brown glass bottle coded “Mindestens haltbar bis: 04.02.22. 3009209”. Sampled on 23.09.21.
€,85 @ Fischer’s Brauerei Markt, Mössingen, DE
Look: Typical cloudy golden orange body beneath a full head of densely foamy white. The head retention is very good but the lacing leaves a little bit to be desired.
Smell: Sweetish wheaty malt, banana, soft clove, apple.
Taste: As the aroma suggests it will be but fuller, and with a delicate edge of acidity, a swirl of spiciness, and a mild bitterness. It’s sweet upfront but dry in the finish with lingering banana and spice.
Feel: Medium-light in body and spritz with a gently effervescent, elevated carbonation.
Overall: An excellent example of the style that showcases the capabilities of the yeast to its fullest while holding back just a touch on the malt to lend it greater drinkablility.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a medium top off white head that dissolves slowly.
Aroma is wheat malt, banana, cloves, bubblegum, citrus and yeast.
The taste is sweet and dry with notes of banana and cloves with some slight malt notes in the background. The finish has some slight bitterness allong with notes of spices. A little watery in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A nice and enjoyable hefeweizen, but lacks that little extra to be among the best ones.

L- The foil and primary orange colour of the lables give a cue to what the beer looks like, a vivid orange brown. Notably cloudy, given it was rested, chilled, and handled and poured carefully. Pours with 4-5mm yellow cream white head. (ps 15mins later, holds well).
S- Quite a spicy nose to it.
T- Clearly of the weizen style, but a couple of times I almost get a sweet note. The taste of the carbonation also seems to come through.
F- As above^ a touch 'carbonic'. It also at times feels rather thin (at risk of feeling watery)...
O- ... which adds up to something of a confused recipe to me. Put another way, I lived 3 years in Germany, drank scores of different Weizens and I find this one disappointing.
Bought from Real Ale Ltd., Formosa St., London W9 £2.75/330ml bottle. BB: 21/10/2020.

Pours a cloudy, almost hazy, deep golden amber coloration with a large, fluffy head. Smells of biscuity malt, yeast esters of banana and clove and just a hint of a lemongrass citrus accent. Taste is a great balance of biscuity malt, yeast esters of banana and clove and hoppy citrus accents of grapefruit and lemongrass. Finishes with a light bitterness and some yeast esters and citrus accents lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
Just like their Pilsner, this is somewhat heavy on the citrus accents for the style, while still maintaining the distinct yeast esters that are expected of it though. While I personally quite like those citrus accents in a Pilsner, I'm not too keen on them in a Hefeweizen, to be honest. Overall, this is still rather nicely balanced with the yeast esters and citrus accents clearly leaving each other enough room to breathe, making for a very enjoyable example of the style that is perhaps a bit more bright and refreshing, while still maintaining a good estery presence that is a bit more heavy on the spice than banana, with some distinct clove and black pepper notes coming through. This actually grew a lot on me as I drank it. Perhaps not the most typical example of the style, but rather enjoyable in it's own way.
