16oz. can review purchased at the brewery after sampling on tap. Hand labeled can date of 3/23 (25)
Deep red-brown color, low head slumps quickly with small flecks of lace. Lasting ring of foam.
Big banana and apple nose, lots of candy sugar sweetness and hints of chewy brown bread.
Flavors follow the nose with rich toffee and molasses, ripe berries wrapped in chocolate malt and dates/ fig notes followed by firm hop dryness to balance. Sour cherry notes blend with tart herbal hops and caramelized sugars as it warms and intensifies.
Body is medium, alcohol is present but in the background of the malt complexity.
Great yeast and malt inter play, well balanced but ale-fruit sweetness carries this one home.
Finish is dry for style, hop presence is prominent with a lingering alcohol warmth.
Well done!
