I'm pretty sure someone at the brewery told me this is a Lager, but I forgot to check with the brewer.
Very pretty, clear medium amber color, slightly off-white head falls quickly. It seems a bit under carbonated / conditioned.
Aroma is all malt, sweet honey and gram cracker notes. Not distinct smells of Munich malt or classic Oktoberfest profile.
Flavor is malt forward - big caramel and vanilla tempered by sharp hop bitterness that sneaks in late.
Body is a bit heavy for the style and again, this "feels" and tastes more like an ale to me - a bit raw and hearty, not clean and rich like a Munich Marzen.
That said its a tasty fall beer with some heft and lots of flavor, well worth a steins worth or 2.
