Looking at the faded signage outside and walking into the dimly lit restaurant populated only by locals might make you think you're in the wrong place, but inside Nguyen Du Brauhof is the best import selection I've seen in all of Vietnam in a month of traveling here.
Yes, they brew their own house beers. 4, actually: "Bia Vang" lager, "Bia Trang" hefeweizen, "Bia den" dunkel lager, and "Bia nau" Brown beer. But they're nothing special.
The real reason to come here is their imports. You may be shocked to discover a well-kept refrigerated selection of fine German and Belgian ales. Andechs in Vietnam? Yup. Schneider Weisse? Yup. Chimay, Franziskaner, Weihenstephaner, Weltenburger, Vendelsteiner, Leffe, Paulaner, Jever, Konig Ludwig, Maisel Weisse, Radeberger, even Schorschbock and a 2L Stein of Das Echte Neuschwan. And more...
Service is nice, and in broken English. Food looks decent, albeit overpriced.
Atmosphere is great - beer paraphernalia everywhere. 5L minikegs, steins/krugs, uncommon bottles.
Prices are fair for the selection, though high by Vietnamese standards (45000 VND per .3L of hausbier, 175000 for Chimay, 140000ish for the German imports, all the way up to 2,250,000 for a .2L bottle of Schorschbock Eisbock).
A German beer oasis in Ho Chi Minh.
